That information was communicated to us by prof. Przemysław Czarnek – Minister of Education and Science during the conclusion of the meeting of the Team for the development of the education system and higher education and science system.
Mazovian Public University in Płock hosted an away meeting of the Team for the development of the education system and higher education and science system. Besides a working meeting, Team members learned about the history and teaching facilities of the University. Prof. Przemysław Czarnek, Minister of Education and Science participated In the conclusion of the team’s work. Prof. Grzegorz Górski, chairman of the team, reported the proceedings of the meeting. As the main issue, he indicated understaffing of Polish Health Care. “Current system supplies 900 doctors annually, however, the needs are at the 1400 – 1800 level of doctors annually. In that ranking, we are in last place in the European Union” emphasized the chairman. On the other hand, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science emphasized the role of centers like Płock, which are well-prepared to educate doctors. He reminded me that the application to create a medical degree in Płock is currently under examination and emphasized the quality of educating doctors will be the same no matter which University. “It’s better to have a doctor educated in Płock, than not have a doctor at all” he argued for creating the medical degree in ex-provincial cities.
Minister communicated good news regarding the evaluation of scientific activities’ quality. “Assessment of application is very good and Mazovian Public University will probably receive B+ category (politics and administration science)” said the Minister “Evaluation results we will know at the turn of June and July. However, I already congratulated Rector, because the University is one of the best” he added.
Assignment of the B+ category will allow, with the fulfillment of the proper conditions, to transform Mazovian Public University in Płock into an academy.
Minister prof. Przemysław Czarnek handed a check for the amount of 5.650.700 zł to prof. Maciej Słodki for maintenance and development of didactic potential. “Last week, I signed the document, due to which in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance we generated an additional 136 mln PLN for the development of Public Vocational Universities. The amount of over 5,5 million PLN will be credited to Mazovian Public University in Płock’s account. I am convinced that these funds will help with the building of Collegium Medicum” he said while donating.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the Ministry thanked the team members for organizing their time and coming to the away sitting. “It will strengthen Płock!” concluded Minister prof. Przemysław Czarnek.
