On October 18, 2023 on Faculty of Social Sciences of the Mazovian Academy in Płock, there was held conference about actions against human trafficking. The organisators of conference were Foundation Time of Freedom and the Mazovian Academy in Płock. The metaphoric partner of the event were Police Headquarters.
In conference they also took part – the representatives of Police Headquarters, deputy director of Prevention Bureau of the Police Headquarters insp. Piotr Kulesza as well officers and workers of Prevention Bureau and Criminal Office of Police Headquarters. On the meeting there was also present the representatives of Voivodeship Police Headquarters z/s In Radom and headquarters of Płock Region. i.a sub-inspector Robert Nowakowski and Deputy Police City Commander in Płock insp. Zbigniew Włodkowski – Provincional Police Commendant in Gostynin insp. Jarosław Ciarka – Provincional Police Commendant in Sierpc and insp. Jarosław Brzozowski –Provincional Police Commendant in Płońsk. The guests of conference were also: Daniel Olender – Director of Municipal Labor Office in Płock and Anna Fortas from Security Department and Crisis Management City Hall in Płock.
In conference, there were also lecturers of the Academy and many students of our academy.
The meeting was led by Agata Witkowska Chairman of the Board of Foundation Time of Freedom and dr. Bogdan Guziński, Manager of Department of Science about Politics and Security of the Mazovian Academy in Płock.
The structure of standard conference was broken In unconventional way – by engaging the audience introductory game, showing at the same time, the level of social consciousness about topic of human trafficking and behaviors that could protect us from this crime. Chief Commissioner Aleksandra Borucka from Prevention Bureau of the Police Headquarters and Dr. Bogdan Guziński from the Mazovian Academy in Płock, has lead survey among the audience in form of game – survey results were obtained by listeners, who in answer to questions, they either stood or stayed sitting – as a sign of positive or negative answer.
Other than informal way of information exchange, participants learned the most of all, what is level of consciousness about human trafficking. There was also the point introducing into further analysis of this difficult area.
The guests of conference were witnesses, as well as active participants of performance by students of the Mazovian Academy in Płock, who under auspices of Jarosław Rebeliński (director of DramaWay, YouArt) were performing progressive presentation – Theatre of Forum dedicated to case of recruiting of potential victim of human trafficking focused on exploatiation in sexual purposes.
The presentation resulted in mass of suggestions, opinions and analysis of the guests, lecturers and students. Each person trying to influence decision of the heroine of the play, was facing the challenges of dealing with such factors as: hard family situation, lack of profession, easy profit or trust issues with close ones.
In further part of the meeting Chief Commissioner from Prevention Bureau of the Police Headquarters referred to earlier played game – survey, explaining the mechanisms and way of actions of human trafficking perpetrators. Referring to preventive actions, she pointed on number of actions, hints, advices, that can protect from becoming a victim of this crime. One of them is giving one message, which in communication with the closest can inform them, that were endangered and need help.
Commissioner Renata Fijał-Świętalska from Criminal Bureau of Police Headquarters, introduced participants into legal issues, statistics and criminal character of human trafficking procedure. The illustration of performance were descriptions and film materials from true issues regarding the recruited people and in consequence used in human trafficking procedure. Commissioner also presented service structure and human trafficking-preventing institutions.
In summary of the event, mrs. Agata Witkowska, chairman of Foundtion Time of Freedom board, once again referred to the case of safety, prevention and mechanisms that the criminals use.
The term of conference, in which two hundred people participated coincided with European Day against Trafficking the Human Beings celebrated annually on October 18. Thanks to its unconventional form substantive knowledge, consciousness of the participants on topic of the the phenomenon and countermeasure scope has largely increased.
