The 15th edition of World Entrepreneurship Week under the theme „Flexibility without borders” has begun. This is an international idea promoting a rational approach to development and an active attitude to life, as well as taking business initiatives. Mazovia Academy in Płock once again joined in the organization of the event.
Opening ceremony of the event
Dr. Anna Nowacka, Vice-Rector for Science and Development, welcomed the gathered guests, pointing out that the road to being entrepreneurial is sometimes full of twists and turns, but every activity is a step to success. On behalf of the Mayor of Płock- Andrzej Nowakowski, the event was officially opened by Michal Balski, director of the Department of Development and Economic Policy of the City of Płock.
Among the participants gathered in the auditorium were representatives of the regional coordinator of the event – the City Hall of Płock, representatives of the University authorities, students and graduates who opened their own businesses, as well as young people from Płock and local high schools. Prior to the lectures, high school students got acquainted with the University’s educational offer for the 2023/2024 academic year.
Tournament of simulation games
Parallel to the speeches of invited guests conducted in the University’s auditorium, a tournament of simulation and board games SKANDAL and FINANSE took place in the teaching rooms. The players had quite a challenge, in the game Scandal, the task was to detect the perpetrator of the theft of a large amount of money from one of the accounts based on the information received in the shortest possible time. And in the game Finance- the main goal was to buy shares and investments of companies and tactically invest cash, so as to maximize their wealth and drive the competition to bankruptcy. Time pressure, proper organization, team cooperation were all elements of working in the enterprises that game participants simulated. The work of young people in such conditions allowed a close look at the life of a future entrepreneur.
Valuable lessons on entrepreneurship
A special guest during the first day of World Entrepreneurship Week in Płock was influencer Piotr „Kosa” Kosek-creator of the Astrophase channel and graduate of the Mazovia Academy in Płock. He revealed the secrets of his success, noting that business is built on both emotional and practical attachments.
Aleksandra Pęcherzewska- president of the Social Cooperative of Legal Persons „Center for Environmental Services” and Beata Puda, substantive coordinator of the Social Economy Support Center for the Płock subregion, talked about good practices in the activities and specifics of the social economy entity. The ladies stressed that thanks to the determination of cooperatives, even socially excluded people can take up work. They gave many examples where such people are working successfully in the sub-Płock municipalities.
Urszula Wojtalewicz and Mirosława Michalska from the Provincial Labor Office in Warsaw, Płock Branch, summarized the deliberations by talking about the predispositions of an entrepreneur. They presented the possibilities of EURES, i.e. European Employment Services- a cooperation network created by public employment services. They also shared knowledge on how to look for a safe job abroad.
Awarding participants in business skirmishes
The interesting lectures were followed by the awarding of prizes to participants of the Scandal simulation game and the Finance board game.
The final panel of World Entrepreneurship Week featured an online workshop for management students entitled How to build a work environment conducive to creativity?
The speaker was Jaroslaw Ligęza- Development Training Partner of „Żabka” Entrepreneurship Study.
The Strategic Partner of this year’s edition of the World Entrepreneurship Week is Żabka, and the regional coordinator is the Płock City Hall and CIFAL Płock.
