Today, in the building located at 28 Gałczyńskiego Street, the ceremonial opening of the virtual shooting range took place. The symbolic 'ribbon cutting’ was performed by Prof. Dr. hab. n. med. Maciej Słodki, the Rector of the Mazovian Academy in Płock, Andrzej Nowakowski, the Mayor of Płock, Artur Jaroszewski, the Chairman of the Płock City Council, and students of the Mazovian Academy in Płock.
“The multimedia studio primarily enhances shooting skills and safety procedures related to handling firearms. It is equipped with replicas that fully simulate the sounds of gunfire and the recoil phenomenon. Thanks to funds from the city budget of Płock, we now have another modernly equipped studio,” said Prof. Maciej Słodki, the Rector of the Academy.
Mayor Andrzej Nowakowski added, „For many years, we have been supporting the development of the Mazovian Academy. It is an extremely important initiative to support students in the field of internal security with the opportunity for practical shooting skills. Thank you for fruitful cooperation.”
„Every time I visit the Mazovian Academy in Płock, I am surprised by another new initiative. Once it is the launch of a medical program, and another time, it is the opening of a shooting range,” added Artur Jaroszewski, the Chairman of the Płock City Council.
After the official opening, internal security students, under the guidance of Dr. Bogdan Guziński, demonstrated the capabilities of the 'Duel’ training system. Invited guests also tried their hand at shooting.
The 'Duel’ training system is a multimedia and portable shooting system developed for the civilian market. Students of internal security (first-degree) and internal security with public administration (second-degree) will mainly use the 'virtual shooting range.’ In the studio, they practice shooting skills using various types of training weapons. At different virtual distances and from various shooting positions, they aim at moving targets under changing lighting conditions and limited visibility.
The creation of the 'virtual shooting range’ allows for the improvement of skills in the safe handling of firearms. For students of the Mazovian Academy in Płock, this is an extremely important element of practical education in security-related fields.
The 'virtual shooting range’ enables simultaneous training for one to four people (each equipped with a pistol or rifle), depending on the size of the displayed image. The exercises are progressively more challenging, ranging from simple static shots to dynamic ones. The system works based on observing the screen through a camera and detecting the location of the laser light reflection emitted from the module mounted on the training weapon. The system improves firearm handling and shooting techniques. Accurate and inaccurate shots are visualized directly on the screen. Misses are signaled by the virtual projectile hitting the ground.
The newly opened virtual shooting system at the Mazovian Academy in Płock supports the pillars of safety and is one of the innovative education workshops.
Currently, almost two hundred students are studying internal security and internal security with public administration.
The equipment for the virtual shooting range was co-financed in the form of a targeted grant from funds received from the Municipality – City of Płock. Grant value: PLN 150,000.00.
